Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing a rally in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday after he laid the foundation stone for the Rs 1350 crore AIIMS project. The Prime Minister has also laid the foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at Una and a steel processing plant at Khandrori in Kangra district via video conference from Bilaspur.
The venue of choice for the BJP rally is interesting as Bilaspur is the hometown of Union Health Minister J P Nadda, who is believed to be one of the chief ministerial aspirants.
Himachal can be good destination of tourism -PM “Road and electricity can change the fate of Himachal. If there is non-stop power supply in the state, tourists would want to stay here. The more they stay, the more they will spend,” Modi said before talking on Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojna, which aims to provide power to all homes. “Out of around 25 crore families, there are at least 4 crore families who do not have electricity in their homes. Don’t these people deserve electricity,” he asked the crowd. “These four crore families would get free power connection after which they can pay for the prepaid connection like they do for their mobile phones.”
